Pauline

I like the sound of sewing machines because I know something nice will come out of it.
Knitting and reading – that is what Pauline Mwanja likes to do best. The 15-year-old also enjoys watching the women from her village sewing clothes – she especially likes the noise the sewing machines make. One day she would like to be a seamstress too, or an interior designer. Pauline was left with hearing loss after suffering from tuberculosis. Even though she has only been wearing hearing aids since October 2014, her speech skills have already improved enormously and she is gaining more and more self-confidence.
